Consumer credit, Schifani: "Even cars and motorcycles with larger engine sizes are eligible for the subsidy."

Important changes have been made to the public notice for the granting of non-repayable grants to reduce interest on consumer loans for the purchase of durable goods. Irfis, the company managing the procedures on behalf of the Sicilian Region, has included larger-engined cars and motorcycles, as well as electric vehicles, among the durable goods purchased by Sicilians eligible for the grant for consumer loans provided by the Sicilian Region. This broadens the number of applicants for the grant.

The main changes concern the modification of the requirements for eligible vehicles; the list also includes motor vehicles with an engine capacity of up to 1600 cc (previously the limit was 1200 cc) and motorcycles up to 250 cc (previously the limit was 125 cc). Electric motor vehicles with a certified power output of up to 100 kW and electric motorcycles with a certified power output of up to 35 kW are also included.

"We are meeting the needs of Sicilian families," says Renato Schifani, President of the Sicilian Region, "and with this change, we have effectively broadened the pool of eligible applicants for consumer loan funding, extending it to those who have purchased, or intend to do so in the near future, cars and motorcycles with higher power output than originally envisaged in the call for proposals, as well as electric cars and motorcycles. All of this is aimed at facilitating access to credit and concretely supporting families in purchasing durable goods with non-repayable grants that can provide relief to citizens by reducing the burden of loan interest."

The application deadline has also been extended to 12:00 noon on December 31, 2025. Applications submitted by 5:00 p.m. on September 30, 2025, will be processed immediately, and the grants will be paid according to the terms set forth in the notice. Otherwise, the provisions of the notice published on May 8, 2025, remain in effect.
